Dominant Bitcoin continues on SHA-256d. This is not a network-wide protocol change, not StarkWare's Aug. 26 QSB mainnet spend, and not a price-candle lede.
Bark (Christian Barker) and Shibo (David Chaboki) walk Dashjr's Sunday BLAKE2b rehearsal with the Doginal Dogs pack so a Knots breakaway PoW test is not StarkWare's QSB hash-lock print. In the space the two kept the discussion grounded in the mechanics rather than broader market moves.
What the room heard
Participants noted that Knots 29.4.1rc4 would lock the final SHA-2 block. After the New York Post Sunday-morning print goes online, Dashjr would post a canonical blake2b_headline to start the new chain. If the rehearsal holds, Knots 29.4.1 final arrives Sept. 1 and keeps the Aug. 30 chain. If it fails, the project resets to the last SHA-2 block and tries rc5.
The prior BIP-110 minority chain stalled after two blocks roughly three weeks earlier. The BLAKE2b effort targets Sia-class hardware such as Bitmain Antminer A3 and Goldshell SC5 so the test chain does not rely on SHA-256d Bitcoin miners. CryptoSlate reporting from Aug. 29 pointed out that rc4 or final 29.4.1 is still not on the public release page, the mainnet activation height remains unset, and testnet4 hash rate sits between 50-70 TH/s against one reviewer's 870 TH/s figure for 10-minute blocks.
Community energy in the live room

NBTC added that the initiative should not be considered a definitive protocol change accepted by the entire Bitcoin network. A successful BLAKE2b block would show the fork can run, yet it would not prove enough miners, infrastructure providers, and users are prepared to keep it economically viable, according to the same CryptoSlate piece.
The 164-byte BLAKE2b headers differ from the 80-byte Electrum-style SHA-256d headers. Replay risk on pre-fork coins remains on the list of open items. No named exchange, wallet, custodian, explorer, or Lightning commit has surfaced yet.
How the pack is tracking it
David Chaboki (Shibo) noted that the rehearsal stays on an isolated chain and does not touch dominant Bitcoin. The room circled back to the point that the test is separate from other projects running different hash experiments.
